Scholars Lunchtime Lecture

On Thursday 8th February the Academic and Woodard Scholars attended a Scholarship Lunchtime Lecture in the front Reception Room.

We were greeted by a very special buffet created by the Kitchen Staff which included; sandwiches, crisps, chicken goujons, vegetables and hummus and many other things. Once we tucked into the delicious buffet, we listened to two lectures prepared by Sixth Formers Wiktoria Zimnowodzka and Ikehang Pagiwa.

We heard Ikehang’s presentation first and we learnt all about AI (artificial intelligence). We found out about how it is progressing and how to use it appropriately. We also had to guess which options were AI and which ones were created by humans. Once we had finished the very interactive presentation, we had a short break to get some more food and refreshments. We then sat down to listen to Wiktoria’s art presentation. We learnt about what Art is and how it has developed through time. We learnt about how it has been an important part of our lives for around 30,000 years. After each presentation we had time to ask questions and between us we thought of some very good questions, and we received some very informative answers from the Sixth Formers.

I would like to say thank you to all the people who were involved in making the lectures happen including, the kitchen staff, Mr Stroud, Mr Meadows, the presenters, and finally Mrs Hampson, Head of the Scholars Society and the main reason it was arranged. We look foward to our next Lunchtime Lecture!
