Cheque Presentation for Kenya School

Cheque Presentation for Kenya School

A cheque for £630 towards the Kenya school was handed over to Mr Meadows by Stephen Moore of R99 Entertainment with the Mayor officiating.

The Mayor of Peterborough, Councillor Paula Thacker MBE, officiated at a cheque presentation ceremony in the Mayor’s Parlour at the Town Hall when Stephen Moore of R99 Entertainment handed over a cheque for £630 to the Headmaster.  The Mayor’s Consort, Councillor Ray Dobbs and teacher in charge of charities, Louise Coles, also attended.

The Peterborough School has joined together with other schools in the Woodard Corporation to raise funds over the last academic year to build a secondary school in the Langalanga area of the Rift Valley in Kenya.  One of the final fundraising events was the Autumn Ball at the Holiday Inn Hotel, Peterborough which was organised and sponsored by R99 Entertainment.  The Mayor and Councillor Dobbs attended the function in November.

Overall, The Peterborough School has contributed over £11,000 to The Woodard Corporation’s appeal, surpassing its target of £10,000.

Mr Meadows is delighted by the response to the fundraising work by everyone at the School but was particularly thrilled by Mr Moore’s contribution: “We are hugely grateful to Steve and everyone at R99 Entertainment who organised a wonderful event and made such a significant donation.  People at School have worked tirelessly all year to raise funds to help provide secondary education for children who previously had none at all and I’m delighted to report that the building of the Kariandusi School is well under way”.
