Former World Champion and Olympic athlete, Steve Cram, visited the School in early November to give a motivational talk to pupils and staff from The Peterborough School as well as visitors from Oundle School, Stamford School, Kirkstone House School and Uppingham School.

Now a respected broadcaster, journalist and speaker, Steve spoke about his experiences during the magnificent ‘golden era’ of British athletics, and encouraged the pupils to find the energy and motivation to succeed.

Adrian Meadows, headteacher of The Peterborough School, which hosted the event, said: “We were absolutely thrilled to have the opportunity to welcome such an inspirational sportsman and broadcaster in school today. Steve’s talk was highly motivating and I’m sure the students will now feel excited and ready to take on challenges in all walks of life as well as in their sporting careers. Following his appointment as a Clydesdale Bank Ambassador earlier this year, Steve is set to represent the Bank at a variety of sporting and business events. Known as the ‘Jarrow Arrow’, Steve was one of the world's dominant middle distance runners during the 1980s. He set world records in the 1,500 metres, 2,000 metres and the mile during a 19-day period in the summer of 1985, winning World Gold and Olympic Silver medals.
