Toddlers

The Toddler Unit – 2 to 3 years
.

The Toddler Room provides care and education for 15 children between the ages of two and three.  It has two main areas of play.  The main room provides a variety of activities including mark making, messy and imaginative play.

The quiet room provides a well-stocked book corner, where the children can listen to a story read by an adult or look at a book by him or herself.  The staff in the Toddler Room also hold simple circle time in this room and the children are encouraged to wave when their name is called and to begin to develop an understanding of number, colour, shape and animal recognition.

The quiet room may be closed off from the main room to provide the children with a place to rest and sleep.  The children are provided with their own personal sleep mats, with their photograph and name.

A member of staff is always available to greet you and your child when you arrive at the Nursery.  Children are offered breakfast between 8.0 and 8.45am.

Throughout the day, children have the opportunity to play with a variety of physical, manipulative and messy play activities.  Staff will also be involved in focussed key working activities as part of the Birth To Three Framework.

The Toddler Room continues with the Birth To Three Celebration of Achievement, which shows observations and photographs as a record of each child's development.
