Senior Curriculum - Sciences

Welcome to Science at Peterborough High School

The Science Department Mission Statement …

“The Science Department is committed to providing stimulating and rigorous teaching to enable all pupils to fulfil their academic potential in Science, and to extend the range and quality of extracurricular opportunities available to them.”

The Sciences are taught by subject specialist in well-equipped laboratories. We teach Science in a practical, investigative way. This approach is to develop pupil’s scientific knowledge by nurturing their skill of analysis and enquiry.

The Science Department has an excellent record of achieving GCSE results, with 80% of year 11 pupils gaining grade B or better, including 30% at A* level. We cannot forget the five Triple Award Scientists who, in 2008 through their own endeavours, achieved an impressive 11 A* grades from Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

The continuing academic excellence of the Science Department is accompanied by a varied and stimulating range of extra curricular activities offered throughout the year.
