Olympic Champion rower and World Record holder, Katherine Grainger, visited the School last Friday to officially open the new Sports Facility.

Katherine watched some of the sporting action in the Hall before the audience was reminded of her success at the London Olympics in August by watching a video of her race.

Katherine then agreed to a 'row off' against National J12 champion, Archie Sootheran, before declaring the new facility open.

After joining the party who buried the time capsule, Katherine allowed students to hold her gold medal and have photographs with her.

During the afternoon Katherine gave an address and presented the prizes at Speech Day in Peterborough Cathedral, describing to a captivated audience her Olympic experiences and finally achieving her dream of an Olympic gold medal.
