Boarding Arrangements

We offer boarding accommodation to girls, from the age of 8, in our well furnished boarding house.

The girls are cared for by House Parents, who have their own daughter at school and ensure that the atmosphere is of a happy and carefully nutured family.

Younger girls appreciate the company afforded by bunk bedded rooms whilst the older girls enjoy the privacy of their attractive individual study bedrooms. 

Boarders benefit from the use of the school’s academic and recreational facilities in the evenings and at weekends. In addition, outings and activities are regularly arranged. Boarders are termly, weekly or casual, according to parental, or extra-curricular, commitments.  

Girls love boarding at Peterborough High School:  
the juniors appreciate the fun of ongoing “sleep overs” while the seniors gain much from learning more independent organisation of their work and their lives, whilst remaining in a safe and caring environment. Sixth Form boarding is particularly popular.

We have both UK based and overseas boarders. The attractions of the boarding house for the overseas girls are:

• The individual care they receive from very good houseparents who both look after them and help them to reach the school’s high academic standards;
• Good links to a specialist teacher of English as a Foreign Language;
• The friendliness of our small school; they soon make friends with other boarders and day girls;
• The good balance of UK based and overseas boarders, offering the combination of the ambience of a traditional British boarding school with a truly international flavour;
• The central position of the boarding house on the school estate so that it is easy to find their way around quickly and, at first, to return for a helping hand;
• Our closeness to London - only 50 minutes by train - makes it easy to link with major air and rail networks; Our school is only a 3-minute taxi drive from the railway station.
• The attractiveness of the historic city of Peterborough; there are very few crimes and very many shopping malls!

The House Parents welcome those who are interested in boarding for “taster nights” or a ‘flexi-boarding stay’ for those whose parents have to leave the country for an ‘urgent holiday’.  

We also offer very flexible supervisory care before and after school.
