Mayor Performs Sports Facility Groundbreaking Ceremony

The Mayor of Peterborough, Councillor Paula Thacker MBE, performed the Groundbreaking Ceremony for the new Sports Facility during the end of term celebrations.

The Mayor of Peterborough, Councillor Paula Thacker MBE, performed the Groundbreaking Ceremony for the new Sports Facility during the end of term celebrations.  It was Miss Thacker's first visit to the School and she thanked the governors, staff and pupils for their warm welcome before giving the official go-ahead for the digger to start up and move the first earth.

In a surprise move, Miss Thacker said that she was so pleased with the new facility for Peterborough and her neice being one of the first pupils to benefit from it that she promised a donation to the Appeal.

Planning permission for the new £1.9m facility was granted last week so groundwork is now on schedule to commence during the Summer holidays, with the main construction starting in September.

Headmaster, Adrian Meadows, was delighted that the Mayor was able to carry out the ceremony and said: “Everyone at the School is extremely excited about the new Sports Facility and, after all the months of planning, we cannot wait to see work actually start on it.  It will significantly enhance the development of sport at the School and we are pleased and very grateful that the Mayor was able to be here on this extremely momentous and important occasion for us”.
