Psychology

Senior Curriculum – Psychology

The Science of Mind & Behaviour

Psychology is a popular, exciting and stimulating A-level and compliments any other combination of A-level subjects well. It is highly regarded by Universities and can be used in conjunction with other subjects to gain entry onto courses in business, medicine and law.

Psychology is offered to Year 12 and 13 students and they study a range of topics including:

  • Memory
  • Relationships
  • Para-psychology
  • Mental Illness
  • Scientific Research Methods

Students learn to develop analytical and evaluative skills, and argue and debate topics using empirical research data. Concepts learnt in psychology can help students think more carefully about the world around them and engage in debates on morality, cultural variation and scientific credibility.

The Head of psychology is a published author and broadcaster. He regularly presents on BBC radio on a variety of psychological themes and runs a consultancy, providing psychological commentary to over 30 national and international organisations. He shares this experience with students in class to help engage and enthuse them in the subject.
